ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA – JUNE 28TH, 2022 – 12:00pm: The National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) continues its assessment of all water systems as the island remains under a tropical storm warning.

At 11:30 a.m. today Tuesday June 28th, 2022, the Concord and Spring Garden Water Systems were forced to be shut off due to dam blockages as a result of heavy rains. Both systems are also experiencing high levels of turbidity and NAWASA is therefore encouraging affected consumers to manage their stored supply until restoration.

Another meeting of our Disaster Management Team is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. today, following which the Authority will provide an update to the general public.

NAWASA maintains its position of having most water treatment plants opened so that persons can fill their storage tanks and containers. The Mardigras and Les Avocat Systems continue to operate within the valve regulation schedules established during the month of May. Adjustments will be made to these schedules and communicated as water becomes available for distribution.

Expected heavy rainfall can render water systems highly susceptible to turbidity and dam blockages hindering the production of water for an extended period.

NAWASA thanks the general public for their cooperation and understanding.
