St. George, Grenada, 13th Feb, 2021 – Officials at the Grenada Electricity Services Ltd., Grenlec are apologising to customers for the inconvenience caused by an electricity outage on the morning of Saturday, 13 February 2021.

At 8:47 AM, two of the major generating units at the Company’s Queen’s Park plant tripped at the same time, causing an outage in many parts of Grenada.

While the events did not initially affect the entire island, with two of the major units off, the remaining generating units became overloaded and also tripped, resulting in an island-wide shut down.

Collin Cover, General Manager of Grenlec assures customers that the Generation plant has the capacity to meet customer demand.
