GOVERNMENT CONGRATULATES SOCA AND GROOVY ARTISTES ON GOOD SHOWING IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
The Government of Grenada has extended hearty congratulations to the Grenadian Soca and Groovy artistes who have now advanced to the finals of the International Soca Monarch Competition in Trinidad and Tobago.
Just last week, a similar message of congratulations was extended to the artistes when they were named semi-finalists.
Minister for Culture and the Arts, Senator Norland Cox who travelled to the neighbouring republic to witness the competition, said to have them all advance to the finals is an incredible achievement and a very proud moment.
“We are proud that our guys have made it this far, we are very excited. I am proud to be a Grenadian and see what they are doing for Grenada. The artistes have done an excellent job representing Grenada and showcasing the country’s culture.”

Senator Cox noted the longstanding relationship between Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago and he is optimistic that only good things can come from this, including more collaborations between artistes from both countries.
The Culture Minister said the good showing by Grenadian artistes in Trinidad and Tobago augurs well for the promotion of our own Spice Mas, scheduled for August 12 and 13.
He said, “Grenada’s carnival is massive; we have seen an increase in the number of persons coming from Trinidad and Tobago. In fact, we have seen increases from many markets and we expect that trend to continue in 2019. We have an excellent carnival product, Grenada is a safe place to be and the people are well-known for their
hospitality.”
Senator Cox will be one of the Ministers appearing on Tuesday’s Post Cabinet Press Briefing.
