Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper has been awarded a vehicle as another prize for winning the 2023 Soca Monarch Competition

NBC Radio St Vincent and the Grenadines – Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper has been awarded a vehicle as another prize for winning the 2023 Soca Monarch Competition.
The car is in addition to his cash prize winnings of $23,000.
This is not the first time the soca monarch winner has been given a car as part of the winning prizes.
Speaking to NBC today (September 5) at the brief handing over ceremony at Victoria Park, Chairman of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) – Mr. Ricardo Adams said the car prize has been part of the CDC’s prize for Soca Monarch for a while.
“It is part of our standard offering for Soca Monarch,” he said.
Mrs. Jean Johnny Findley collected the keys for the car on behalf of Mr. Hooper who is currently overseas. The vehicle is a 2015 Suzuki Swift valued at some $43,000.
The vehicle is new, licensed and insured, Carnival Development Corporation- CDC officials said at the brief handing over ceremony at Victoria Park today.
Speaking to NBC Radio, Chairman of the CDC – Mr. Ricardo Adams said: “The car was supplied by the CDC as a result of joint sponsorship that we received from many people to whom we are always grateful, but there wasn’t a specific sponsor for the car.”
Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper has won the national Soca Monarch title for twelve (12) times.
He has received a car as part of his winnings on a number of occasions, Mr. Adams said.
“In fact, during the prize-giving ceremony I heard the minister comment that Fireman can almost open a car rental agency now because he has won a couple of them before, so it is part of our standard offering for Soca Monarch,” Mr. Adams added.
The 2023 CDC prize-giving ceremony was held on August 21, 2023.
Winners of the various judged competitions in Vincy Mas 2023 were handed their prizes, including cash prizes, at the ceremony.
