TRAFFIC NOTICE – Diversion of Traffic to facilitate Road Closure-Moliniere

St. George, 11th December 2019 – The general public is advised that the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Public Utilities, Energy, Transport and Implementation in collaboration with the Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force has made alternative traffic arrangement for the Western Main Road Corridor, Moliniere Area.

The diversion of traffic will be as follows:
Effective Friday 13th December from 7am, heavy trucks will not be allowed to use the Western Main Road. All heavy trucks and trailers are advised to use the Eastern Main Road and other alternative routes. The RGPF will issue an advisory in that regard

Effective Monday 16th December, 2019 from 7am, all other vehicles are advised to use the alternative routes as specified below.

-> Mt. Moritz Concrete Road – to facilitate the traffic coming from St John, St. Mark and St Patrick towards St. George.
->  Jones Road to facilitate the traffic coming from St. George towards the Western side.

This arrangement is made to facilitate geotechnical and engineering studies and design work on the road section between Mt. Moritz junction and Moliniere. This intervention is urgently required to address the land slippage in that area.

The general public is advised that the diversion of traffic will be in effect until further notice as the Ministry endeavours to enhance road safety in the area. The studies will commence in the coming weeks. The kind cooperation of homeowners in the area and the motoring public is anticipated.

ROYAL GRENADA POLICE FORCE TRAFFIC NOTICE

The General Public is hereby notified that as a result of geotechnical and engineering studies and design work to be undertaken on the section of road between Mt. Moritz junction and Moliniere Public road, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented.

Effective Friday 13th December 2019, all trucks and load bearing vehicles will not be permitted to travel through the affected area at Moliniere.

The Grandville Vale Public Road towards Willis has been identified as an alternative route.

The public is further advised effective Monday the 16th December 2019, from 0700 hours, the section of road between Mt. Moritz junction and Moliniere Public Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

The following arrangements, made to facilitate the flow of traffic around the affected area are as follows:

  • Vehicles travelling from the Western Main Road toward the town of St. George will make a detour through Moliniere and exit along the Mt. Moritz Public Road and continue into St. George.
  • Vehicles travelling from St. George towards the Western side will travel through Mt. Moritz via Jones Road and exit on Happy Hill Public Road and continue along the Western Main Road.

NO PARKING

As a consequence of these arrangements, No vehicles will be permitted to park along either side of Moliniere Public Road and Jones Road.

Motorists are also advised to exercise caution and expect delays. Traffic signs will be erected to assist commuters travelling along the route.

These arrangements will remain in force until remedial work is done on the affected portion of road.
